What type of mic input are you using? (USB, Line in or mic?)
Do you experience any issues with the mic at all?

Not using any effects, have tried with and without them.
The sound seems to mess up after about 5-10 mins, how long did you run your tests for?

The USB mic install, goes as follows:
Boot machine without mic,
Insert USB and wait till installed
Check in the control panel to ensure it is the default mic
Launch silverjuke and turn the mic on. Almost instantly the sound messes up, or if not, wait 10 mins and does.

What is the recommended setup for:
OS
Soundcard
Type of input
etc...

Thanks
Gareht

I am looking to do the same thing that Chris is and am having the same issues. I am using a trial version until I am confident this issue is sorted as it is one of the main things I need to do for this project. I've tried it on 3+ computers now and all are exhibiting the same problems both with the trial and with a friends registered version.

Is there a difference between the trial and full versions?

The computers are running the following spec's:
XP Home - 2Ghz, 512Mb, Sound Blaster
XP Pro - Quad 3Ghz, 3Gb and Sound Blaster Audigy HD
XP Pro - (can't remember the spec)

All clean installs of both the OS and the software. The mic inputs all work for a few minutes then the sound goes really funny. Sort of fuzzy!

The mic slider does work but does not affect the windows os mic slider. I've tried all sorts of software configurations but nothing seems to work.

I've tried 3 different microphones on aux and usb inputs. All produce the same problems.

Just to let you know I am a programmer so overcoming issues is my job; however I've been working on this for 3 weeks now and cannot seem to get round this one. I even started looking into the SDK's, skins and code behind it all.

From my testing it appears to be hardware independant which would imply it is a sofware issue? But what?!

Incompatible with sound card inputs?
OS version?
Installed windows extension?
Or just not interacting with the OS sound controller as expected?

Do you have any more ideas I can try as I have tried everything in this forum so far. Could you also let me know the exact setup you are using on a working machine and I will see I if I can re-create it, part for part and see if I can get it working.

Many thanks in advance and all help is very gratefully received.
Gareth

Would it be possible for you to send me a skin with the microphone slide bar that you have tested at your end and know to be working. At least I would then know that it is a hardware and not software problem.

The skin can be sent to me at c.mcfarquhar@jukebox45s.co.uk

thanks

Still struggling here.

I installed a new Creative Soundblaster Soundcard, but this has not helped.

Again the volume is controllable via the Windows Volume control but not within Silverjuke.

Silverjuke knows the soundcard has been installed and this now appears as a drop down option within the microphone input.

I have tried different microphones.

I have tried using original un-edited skins, without any kiosk volume control.

I am not even able to adjust the volume via the settings panel.

What else can we try?

Yours,

Chris

Well, it may be useful to have a look at the audio/soundcard drivers. Maybe they have a problem. Another approach: If possible, can you test your configuration with some different (audio-)hardware?

You're welcome.

Thanks for the reply.

Still no luck however.

I have tried various combinations for 'Use Hardware''System Volume' and the drop down menus aside microphones 1 & 2.

Still the same, the microphone is fine and can be controlled via the windows volume control but not via Silverjuke.

You made some mention of drivers on your previous post - what drivers?

Thanks for your time.

Chris

Okay - so the skin is not the problem :-)

Hmm, we do not have any problems with our inputs here. Maybe this is a driver problem.

You can try to use different settings for the options at "Settings / Playback / Devices / Use hardware" and "Settings / Advanced / Further options / Audio output: Use system volume". Maybe this will solve your problem.

Not necessarily - "Virtual Cable 1 in" is only the drive of one of our testing inputs.

Slider 1 and 2 are in synch.

Yet they do not adjust the volume of the microphone.

(If I go into Windows Volume control and adjust the microphone volume there, then the volume does raise and lower).

Within the drop down menu options for Microphone 1 or 2 I do not have "Virtual Cable 1 in" - should this be there?

Chris
