hello forum,

in Silverjuke 2.52 (coming soon) or in later versions, the AutoPlay state will be accessible via a script. See the for details (the examples on the linked page will also show how to access this property in a skin or via a shortcut for remote controls).

Best regards,
Your Silverjuke Team

I'm to accede, the autoplay as button target would be nice.

The best option for me is to use it with the current selection and then change the selection to preferred cds.
What I really miss with this feature is the option to turn autoplay on/off from remote while using it in kiosk mode, a pity because it's really a smart option... Don't think I already mentioned this...

V.

Don't worry, I know we've all so many things to do in our lives. :-|

You pointed exactly the problem: the currently playing track is unmarked automatically after 4 seconds in the playing track window and that makes impossible to control this without a mouse/touchscreen.
The current playing track in my opinion should be preserved to avoid interruption of the playing and be excluded from the unqueue actions (unless you stop the play before either one of the unqueue actions).

To unqueue the "currently playing" unwanted track too you can then just go to a next "wanted" track (or enqueue it) and then unqueue all but marked tracks. It's the only way (to my limited knowledge of SJ ;-))I can currently imagine of clearing the playlist while not stopping the play, but it needs the playing track to be kept marked...

>An alternative would be to just to ignore the additional tracks in the playlist - "More from ..." automatically adds the tracks just after the currently playing track

Here as I wrote the problem is that you cannot queue always if shuffle is on as you cannot predict if the unwanted tracks (if not already played in the last minutes) will start playing at any point.

That's a good hack solution, I'll try and see how it behaves in the system. Thanks!

Thanks to you and please keep us updated with all the nice improvements on the way!
(I'm always dreaming of using SJ as a remotable client-server front end both for audio and video)

If I understand your problem correctly: You would like to see the currently playing title as marked for the option "Unqueue all but marked" and as unmarked for the option "Unqueue marked". This would leave the currently playing title always in the queue.

Is this correct? However, I'm not sure if I would like such a behaviour (which would be a little bit unlogical).

Are there other opinions of other users?

One working solution would be to select "Unqueue all but marked" from the playing track's context menu (this will mark the currently playing track) and select "More from ..." afterwards.

An alternative would be to just to ignore the additional tracks in the playlist - "More from ..." automatically adds the tracks just after the currently playing track :-)

You have luck - This feature will be available in the next update ;-) See "Playback / Automatic Control / Further options" then:

Another hint (or hack): In my tests it works to assign ALT-F4 to the "kiosk start/stop" command (see "Advanced / Further options / Shortcut: Kiosk mode". If you then use "Exit Silverjuke" as the "Exit action" at "Kiosk / Start", ALT-F4 should quit Silverjuke in the kiosk mode.

I answered to the main issues but before them I found a new issue that's worth to be mentioned:
When I want to avoid big queues I use "unqueue all but marked" key. This works unpredictaby as the currently playing track is not considered "marked".
A practical example: I have a full queue, I am in shuffle mode and am listening to an interesting track and I'd like to listen to "more from the same" album or author. I would like to unqueue the other tracks, clear the queue without stopping music and then select "same something" trigger key.
I cannot do this unless I do it right after a newly enqueued track :-( This would really be a "tiny great improvement"!!

Here the replies to your last post,
Thanks again and my kindest regards,

Virginio Spicacci Minervini

P.S. FYI I am working on a prototype of residential kiosk for my personal use and maybe for a marketable product. SJ is the main audio component while for the video I am using ZoomPlayer and LOTs of custom scripts (vbs, js, hta and autohotkey exes) The main problems are related to remote issues, key maps and explorer.exe that cannot be kept always shut off! :-x

--------------------------------------------------

>>1) Album View
>- You can switch to the cover view. In the coverview, a selected cover implicitly selects all tracks of the album.
>We do not think this is a bug - CTRL+R simply goes to "any" position. For the album view, selecting a track may scroll the covers out of view, which may not be desired, too.

Well, I sort of "solved" part of the issue by setting a key of the remote to select and play the same album track (though every key is precious on a tiny remote control).
What would improve usability a little bit, without too much effort I hope, would be to enable a timer after which the view changes to the favourite one of the threes. E.G. I'd like to have cover view set automatically after 30 seconds of inactivity 8i think it can be done even if the vis plugin is running)

>> 2) Numpad Cancel
>Virgus, thank you for the hint - this will be corrected in the next version.

Thanks! That's good to know as it was a pity to have a limitation in the usability of this nice tool

>> 3) Alt F4 Option in Kiosk mode [...]
>Both options are not available in kiosk mode because for the kiosk mode in our definition we assume a "Terminal" where any person coming along can play around with the software ... maybe the "normal" mode will already fit your needs? However, some hints:
>- You can exit Silverjuke instead of only terminating the kiosk mode, see "Settings / Kiosk / Start / Exit action". The default key for the exit action is F11

This is a little "big" problem for me: the kiosk mode has so many advantages but I cannot use it if I am not able to close it to open skype or watch a DVD or do other CPU consuming tasks. The problem is that many remotes have a single configuration for global keys (like the close window key AltF4)
Not using the kiosk mode leads to many other little hassles though... (as the shuffle issue later on).
I am wondering if it would be possible to have an hidden configurable option to enable the same global key to close the kiosk too. :arrowleft:

>- Instead of "repeat" maybe an customized "AutoPlay" will be sufficient - see "Settings / Playback / Automatic control"

Thanks, this would solve the issue I think. But I would need an option to set the Autoplay on/off as the timing would be set necessarily at 0 minutes to simulate an endless playlist. A configurable key in the Advanced options would be great!

>For the shuffle mode, just enable the option "Settings / Kiosk mode / Functionality / Shuffle"; this will always enable shuffe in kiosk mode.

This option is very useful but it's available only in kiosk mode and there is no trigger key or command line code to enable shuffle mode.
If SJ starts in normal mode it keeps last state and I cannot know if triggering shuffle automatically will start or stop it.
I need a little improvement on this issue too ;-)

>> And will there be a way to open the cover editor
>> with a keyboard command? [...]
>Currently the cover editor can only be openeded using the mouse or by a touchscreen.

This is a minor issue but it would be nice if you are far from the screen to make the cover become "big" and see it better.
I just need the trigger key to do it

>> I'd like to enqueue the tracks after a selection

>We're not really sure what you want to do ... maybe we should add sth. like program.setSelection() to our scripting engine ...

Let me clarify this:
I'd like to set up a few predefined selections (eg favourites, genders, playlists, radio streams) and be able to access them via remote. It does not seem possible now. A solution could be to have a key to trigger the search dropdown menu. It is navigable with arrows and enter but it can be opened only via mouse click or touchscreen. :arrowleft:

The numpad menu uses the space available in a display line - the font size is defined by the height of a line wich can be changed by a - eg. the Skins and have different heights for the numpad's menu.

For the shuffle mode, just enable the option "Settings / Kiosk mode / Functionality / Shuffle"; this will always enable shuffe in kiosk mode.

For the "repeat" option, please see our comment .

Currently the cover editor can only be openeded using the mouse or by a touchscreen.

thank you for your suggestions. Some comments are following ...

Well, this may result into some complicated states. However, here are two suggestions that may work for you:

- You can select several tracks with the keyboard by holding down the SHIFT key (okay, this may be impossible for a remote control)

- You can switch to the cover view. In the coverview, a selected cover implicitly selects all tracks of the album.

- For the Numpad: A full album can be enqueued using the track number "00"

> BTW little "bug" in album view: if you
> select a random album you don't have any track

We do not think this is a bug - CTRL+R simply goes to "any" position. For the album view, selecting a track may scroll the covers out of view, which may not be desired, too.

> 2) Numpad Cancel
> [...] I think it should also exit from numpad

> numpad cancel

We have checked this - the "Cancel" key works, there is no need to wait for an timeout. Unfortunately, the display is not updated so that the normal user does not get any feedback about the new state ...
Virgus, thank you for the hint - this will be corrected in the next version.

> 3) Alt F4 Option in Kiosk mode [...]
> Also I'd like to use the repeat button in kiosk

Both options are not available in kiosk mode because for the kiosk mode in our definition we assume a "Terminal" where any person coming along can play around with the software ... maybe the "normal" mode will already fit your needs? However, some hints:

- You can exit Silverjuke instead of only terminating the kiosk mode, see "Settings / Kiosk / Start / Exit action". The default key for the exit action is F11

- Instead of "repeat" maybe an customized "AutoPlay" will be sufficient - see "Settings / Playback / Automatic control"

Both - there will be a minor release with bugfixes and little improvements the "next weeks". However, there are also some bigger features "in queue" - but we cannot give you more detailes this moment.
