While I do appreciate the implied praise in your post, I feel I must stand up for the developers here: current pricing is 29 euro's for "unlimited updates". That is 'unlimited', not to be confused with 'guaranteed' or 'often' or even 'regularly'.
If you want unlimited guaranteed often regular updates the best way probably is to bind yourself to a company which charges for them instead, you just can't have it both ways in the real world...

PS: In fact when I think of it I got the short stick here: I won the software for free in the competition, but as result of a few hundred hours coding before and after the contest I think that might be a rather poor return on investment..
