To make it short, the file in_zm4a.dll as a Silverjuke plugin was not the best solution for resolving the m4a problem.
I've come up to this solution which seems to handle all my problems. The idea is that it is not Silverjuke which iis either concerned or faulty, but the very way m4a files are handled elsewhere than within Apple applications. Now, as far as Winamp is concerned (since Silverjuke invokes that reader), the file used to handle m4a files is in_mp4.dll, in Winampplugins folder. I have replaced that file, proceeding as follow:

==========

1- Go to:
http://www.audiocoding.com/modules/mydo ... id=1&lid=1

2- Download in_mp4.exe

3-1 Close Winamp if running. Run in_mp4.exe: this will replace (after your confirmation) Winamp's original in_mp4.dll with the new in_mp4.dll. (I advise you to backup first).
3-2 Then open Winamp and go to:
Prefs > Plugins > Input > AudioConfig.com MPEG-4 General Audio player: 2.0 compiled on Feb 8 2004 > config
and checkmark "use for aac"

4. In SILVERJUKE/Settings/Basic Settings/Modules :

- Nullsoft MPEG(Layer1-3 CT AAC+/Dolby AAC) Audio Decoder 3.1 :
Use this module for aac, apl, mp1, mp2, mp3
==> mp3 is no longer processed through module Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (Advanced)

- AudioConfig.com MPEG-4 General Audio player: 2.1 beta compiled on Jul 9 2004 :
Use this module for aac, m4a, mp4
==> aac is no longer processed through module Nullsoft MPEG(Layer1-3 CT AAC+/Dolby AAC) Audio Decoder 3.1

==========

Works fine...

However I am unable to locate the zip file or dll file in order to apply the fix. Im midway thru the 14 day trial, and need to know if this works before I gladly stump up for a license. Can anyone send me an alternate location for said file (either in_zm4a.dll or in_m4a.zip). Alternatively could someone email it to me - presumably its freely distributable?

Thanks in advance...

Even within Winamp, it appears on their forums that some users have problems using Nullsoft's mp4 demuxer v0.5 [m4a(audio)/mp4(video)] plugin.

As far as I'm concerned, no problem with Winamp, but as you know the absence of time duration output for m4a files within Silverjuke.

I have downloaded a dll plugin file from Winamp forums (in_zm4a.dll) which handles *only* m4a files, that is audio, and not mp4 (video).
I've installed this file in a folder I reserved for Silverjuke possble modules (Program FilesSilverjukeModules).
In Preferences/Modules, I've stopped call of Winamp's plugin (Nullsoft's mp4 demuxer v0.5), and I switched handling of mp4 to the newly installed dll plugin (Program FilesSilverjukeModulesin_zm4a.dll).

It works. My mp4 files run normaly and no data is excluded : time duration is on, with both total time and elapsed time.

The in_zm4a.dll file is zipped within in_m4a.zip and is downloadable with this link :

In the first case (MP3): Is the only problem the incorrect/unavailable playing time? If so, this sounds to me as a corrupt MP3-header (or at least a header format that is not understood by Silverjuke).

In the second case (M4A): Which module is used to play M4A-files? (you can check this at "Settings / Basic settings / Modues")

In both cases it may be useful if you mail one of the erroneous files to "drsilver AT silverjuke.net"

- My database included among others one folder with .m4a audio files.
- I converted those files to .mp3
- Now the database seems unable to update correctly, since the files have the same name, though different extensions. The database reads the files, and plays them. But it states ?:?? for the time length of those files.

I have then deleted the database itself (in ..Application DataSilverjuke) and all .tmp files, in order to rebuild the database. Impossible! The scanning goes very quickly, as if it got its data from elsewhere...

I have then completely uninstalled Silverjuke. Cleaned the Registry with RegSupreme (practically nothing, in fact: clean uninstall).
Then I reinstalled Silverjuke, started all over from the beginning: same problem! The scanning just 'flies' over the modified audio files, as before.

So my question is: where is the data to be removed in order to enable a clean install and a clean database scanning?

I've spent 4 hours on this. Impossible to get a solution, unless I change the folder with the modified extensions' files ...

Thanks for your advice.
