I think, this has something to to with the AutoPlay setting.

- If AutoPlay is disabled and the player is paused/stopped on exit, the playlist is resumed, the position is restored and the player stays in stop mode.

- If AutoPlay is enabled and the player is paused/stopped on exit, the playlist is resumed, the position is restored and the player starts in stop mode. However, minutes or moments later (depending on the "Wait AutoPlay" setting), AutoPlay may detect there should be something played and enqueues as new song.

However, maybe your issue is also more complicated ...

OK, I've switched off autoplay.

Now it works like this (My results(@home):
- If AutoPlay is disabled and the player is paused on exit, the playlist is resumed, the position is restored and the player stays in stop mode.
- If I press the pause button again (to resume where I stopped) the pause track is getting played. Not from where I paused, but from start.

- If AutoPlay is disabled and the player is stopped on exit, the playlist is resumed, the position is restored and the player resumes at the exact place where it was when on exit.


Q: Do I need to run the installer for SJ or is it OK to extract all files into a folder and run SJ from there?
So far I've only extracted all the files and ran SJ from there.

I use 7-zip to open the .exe file.

First I used the installer, but when it wanted to remove my previous installed version of SJ, I terminated the installer.
That one I wanted to keep, therefore I switched to 7-zip.
