Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2

Has anyone successfully used a Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 with Silverjuke? It would make a perfect remote control.
Details of the game controller are at:
I was told at a PC shop that the PS2 style controller could not be used as a mouse and that it needs drivers for "Game Mode". Doesn't sound right to me but I wasn't prepared to purchase the controller to find out. Can anyone provide more information please?
