Popping / Crackling on playback - Really need help!

Hi Guys,
Superb product - Thanks. Have purchased a license.
One major problem i am having is random popping / crackling noise when playing any songs. I can play these files fine in Windows Media Player and MusicMatch. It also happens when i use winamp and so uninstalled winamp but the problem persists in Silverjuke. Would really love to get this sorted so any ideas / help would be appreciated.

I had a similar problem. Tell me this, while a track is playing and you scroll through the album list with the arrow keys, does it make a crackling sound?

This is what I had. Solution, change the sound card driver and/or sound card

Hello Fin,

if this happens independently of the played tracks I would also search the problem in the audio output settings. The first thing you should try is to use a larger buffer in Silverjuke. You can adjust the buffer at "Settings / Playback / Audio-output / Default audio-output / Options / Output buffer":

If this does not help, try a Devive "over MME", try the high priority check or try even smaller buffers. If there are still problems, and if you're using the "Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec" I would also try to replace the decoder with .

Yes, sorry, we've now corrected the link above to point to . We suggest, that you first try another decoder - eg. the MPEG Audio-decoder - before soing something else.

I don't have the same problem as above, but i have a pop in sound, when the crossfade is activated, and when the next song starts playing it makes a small pop, when the first song is faded out.. Maybe you have a solution for that problem..

My soundcard is a Audiotrak prodigy 7.1 LT with the latest drivers 1.17

we have never heart something "popping" here. Does this sound appear always or only for some (maybe may) files? (in the first case, the problem may be the the audio output/to the player, in the seconds case the problem may be the audio decoder)

However, we're currenly working on some major improvements regarding the playback and codec stuff, which may fix this problem then.

It's just a small problem, so i've to wait and see, what happens with your next version release.. Still hoping you soon will be able to enable a feature in crossfading settings to fade songs pressing next/previous buttons in the player, without having the "now playing" go to end before fading.. Keep up the good work, you have with no doubt created the best music program on the market in my opinion...
